Under the “fearless captaincy” of Suryakumar Yadav, former India opener Virender Sehwag has supported the current T20I team to win the forthcoming Asia Cup.
From September 9 to September 28, the continental competition will take place in the United Arab Emirates.
India, the winners of the tournament’s first T20 edition in 2016, is in Group A with hosts UAE, Oman, and longtime foes Pakistan. Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka make up Group B.
“This Indian team has the right mix of youth and experience, and under Surya’s fearless leadership, they can dominate Asia once again. His attacking mindset suits the T20 format perfectly, and if the team plays with the same intent, I have no doubt India can lift the trophy,” Sehwag said.
He was speaking on the forthcoming event as part of the ‘RagRagMeinBharat’ campaign by broadcaster Sony Sports Network.
“This campaign beautifully brings alive the heartbeat of Indian cricket. No matter which part of the country you belong to, when India plays, emotions unite us. I could feel that same passion in the film, and it’s this connect that makes cricket so powerful.”
Test captain Shubman Gill will serve as Suryakumar’s deputy in the 15-man Indian team that will compete in the Asia Cup.
The two venues for all of the matches are Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
