Harmanpreet Kaur becomes most-capped player in women’s international cricket

India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur made history by becoming the most capped cricketer in women’s cricket history. The seasoned batter reached the milestone against Australia in Canberra on Thursday during the second Twenty20 International.

At the toss, Harmanpreet said, “It’s a great achievement for me. Hopefully I will keep doing the hard work for the team and keep playing as much as I can.”

Harmanpreet became the most-capped player in women’s international cricket history after playing in her 356th match, surpassing New Zealand great Suzie Bates.

Ellyse Perry of Australia, who has played in 349 matches, is ranked third among women cricket players with the most international appearances, behind Harmanpreet and Bates.

Charlotte Edwards played for England in 309 games, whereas former India cricketer Mithali Raj participated in 333. Among the players with the most international appearances in women’s cricket are Danni Wyatt-Hodge (302, England), Sophie Devine (305, New Zealand), and Heather Knight (303, England).

So far in her Indian career, Harmanpreet has played in 189 T20Is, 161 ODIs, and six Test matches. The 36-year-old has amassed 4409 runs in 161 ODIs, 3784 runs in 188 T20Is, and 200 runs in six Test matches. Notably, Harmanpreet has also played in 10 Women’s 100 games, 62 Women’s Big Bash League games, and 35 Women’s Premier League games.

Last year, Harmanpreet guided India to their first-ever World Cup victory when they defeated South Africa in the ODI World Cup final.
