Ahead of the Indian Premier League mini auction next month, the Punjab Kings released Australian all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Hardie along with Indian domestic stars Kuldeep Sen and Vishnu Vinod on Friday.
Maxwell played in just seven IPL games this year, scoring just 48 runs and taking four wickets before being sidelined for the rest of the competition due to a finger injury.
Mitchell Owen, a fellow Australian, later took the position of the seasoned all-rounder.
According to an IPL source, Hardie, who had joined Punjab Kings for Rs 1.25 crores in the auction, did not play for the team and is one of the players released ahead of the December 16 mini auction in Abu Dhabi.
Sen, a right-arm seamer, and Vinod, a wicketkeeper-batter, who were both on the PBKS team that lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final, did not play in any of the 2025 edition’s games.
Sen did not appear in any of the Punjab Kings’ games despite having joined them for Rs 80 lakhs in the mega auction before to IPL 2025.
In a similar vein, Vinod, who had joined the team before to the previous edition, was last seen in the Mumbai Indians’ camp during the 2023 edition.
