Asia Cup: India rout Kazakhstan 15-0, enter Super 4s unbeaten

In a wildly lopsided match, favored India crushed Kazakhstan 15-0 in Rajgir, Bihar, on Monday, advancing to the Asia Cup hockey tournament’s Super 4 stage with an all-win record.

Amit Rohidas (29th), Rajinder Singh (32nd), Sanjay Singh (54th), Dilpreet Singh (55th), Abhishek (5th, 8th, 20th, and 59th), Sukhjeet Singh (15th, 32nd, 38th), Jugraj Singh (24th, 31st, 47th), and captain Harmanpreet Singh (26th) were the Indian goal scorers.

Pool A toppers India struck four goals in the second quarter to race to a 7-0 half-time lead, with Abhishek completing his hat-trick inside five minutes of the period in a commanding display by the hosts.

In the lopsided game, Jugraj and Sukhjeet, Abhishek’s attacking partner up front, also scored hat-tricks.

In their first two games, India had defeated China and Japan.

The victor of the continental competition will advance to the World Cup, which Belgium and the Netherlands will jointly host next year.
