Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf was fined 30% of his match fees on Friday for acting rudely and aggressively during last Sunday’s Asia Cup Super 4s match against India.
However, his teammate Sahibzada Farhan got away with a warning and no financial punishment for celebrating his half-century in the same match with a gunshot in the open.
“Match referee Richie Richardson had completed his hearing on Friday afternoon at the team hotel. Hars Rauf has been fined 30 percent of his match fees for aggressive behaviour and Farhan has been let off with a warning,” under anonymity, a tournament insider told PTI.
According to tournament insiders, Rauf and Farhan had already entered a not guilty plea during their ICC hearing for allegedly engaging in provocative behavior during the match against India.
Match referee Richie Richardson held the hearing at the Pakistan team hotel in Dubai. Despite the fact that their comments were in paper, both players personally appeared before him, accompanied by Naveed Akram Cheema, the team manager.
In an official complaint filed on Wednesday, the BCCI accused the two of making inappropriate gestures. On Sunday, the bitter rivals will square off in the Asia Cup final.
The Indian side also found Farhan’s celebration following his half-century in the game insulting, even though Rauf had made fun of the Indian fans in the stands by making gestures about falling planes.
