Amir hits back at Kaif, says ‘you played cricket only because of fielding’

The war of words between Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Kaif is still on with the latest rebuttal coming from the former Pakistan pacer. It all started when Amir called Abhishek Sharma a slogger and predicted that India will not reach the semifinals of the T20 world Cup 2026.

But India proved Amir’s prediction wrong by advancing to the final of the T20 World Cup 2026, where they meet New Zealand on Sunday. Kaif had said not to pay heed to what Amir says on India or cricket because what he says is only to draw attention. Amir hit back and said he had more experience than Kaif in T20 cricket and asserted that whatever he says is not to gain attention.

“I don’t know about his cricketing career, how much he’s played. I checked his stats; he just played 29 matches in the IPL. He has a strike rate of 103 (103.60). He said that I was speaking about India to gain some attention. Firstly, I don’t need to get attention by speaking about India. Mr. Kaif, I have played 350 T20s, you can check my stats,” Amir said on his YouTube channel.

Amir didn’t stop at that and took a dig at Kaif and said that the former India cricketer played international cricket because of his fielding skills. Amir also added that Kaif should thank Sourav Ganguly for the opportunities he gave him.

“Moreover, main bass fielding pe cricket nahi khela (I didn’t play cricket just due to my fielding). I have played after giving performances. Aap Dada ko thank you bole (You should be thankful to Dada).

“I have heard that you played cricket only because of your fielding. You are a cricketer; these sorts of statements don’t suit you,” Amir added.

Pakistan failed to go beyond the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup 2026, while India after their loss to South Africa have bounced back with wins against Zimbabwe, West Indies in the Super Eight, followed by a victory over England in the semifinal.
