IPL 2026: Will Cameron Green bowl for Kolkata Knight Riders against Lucknow Super Giants?

When Kolkata Knight Riders face the Lucknow Super Giants in Kolkata on Thursday, star Australian all-rounder Cameron Green might finally be seen bowling for the three-time champions in IPL 2026, providing a boost to their exhausted bowling stock.

Green has been progressively increasing his effort in the nets, although he hasn’t bowled yet this season because to back surgery.

The Aussie bowled fiercely the night before KKR’s match against Punjab Kings on Monday. He also bowled a few overs during Tuesday’s training session before a downpour interrupted it.

Green worked hard at the nets for more than half an hour on the day of their game against LSG, but practice had to conclude early due to another violent thunderstorm, wind, and rain.

The all-rounder now seems prepared to play with the ball in a competitive match, more than ten days after Cricket Australia said that Green will resume bowling “in around 10-12 days.”

With several front-line alternatives missing, including Mustafizur Rahman (withdrawn), Harshit Rana, and Akash Deep (injuries), Green’s bowling absence has had an impact on KKR’s lineup.

Both of KKR’s main spinners, Varun Chakravarthy (hand injury) and Sunil Narine (abdominal pain), were absent from their previous match against Punjab Kings, which was called off after 3.4 overs.

Chakravarthy’s comeback is still up in the air, but Narine has recovered and is scheduled to return. While training indoors, the India spinner was observed having his fingers strapped. Chakravarthy has not taken a wicket in two games this season and is currently on a poor run.

With scores of 18, 2, and 4 in his first three games, Green’s batting form has also come under fire. But KKR has persisted in supporting their highest-paid foreign acquisition, and his comeback as a bowling option might relieve some of the pressure on both departments.
