Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill was fined Rs 12 lakh for his slow over-rate during the team’s exciting last-ball victory over Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League.
In a high-scoring cliffhanger on Wednesday, the Gujarat Titans defeated the hosts by one run to earn their first victory of the season.
“Gujarat Titans (GT) Captain Shubman Gill has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match No. 14 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against Delhi Capitals (DC) at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi,” said an IPL media advisory.
“As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Gill was fined INR 12 lakh,” it added.
David Miller made a momentary lapse in judgment during a thrilling match, missing the last ball after declining a single off Prasidh Krishna’s penultimate delivery.
The Delhi Capitals ended their chase of the Titans’ 210 at 209 for 8 after Kuldeep Yadav was unable to get past Jos Buttler’s direct hit.
Delhi Capitals will play Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on Saturday, while Gujarat Titans will play Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow on Sunday.
