
After his team maintained a slow over-rate during their IPL encounter against Gujarat Titans in Mullanpur, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer was fined Rs 12 lakh.
Punjab Kings’ IPL 2026 campaign got off to a successful start as they defeated GT by 3 wickets.
“As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Iyer was fined INR 12 lakhs,” stated a media release.
Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and pacer Vyshak Vijayakumar both claimed five wickets as PBKS restricted GT to 162/6.
Punjab crossed the finish line in 19.1 overs despite a faltering batting effort.
Cooper Connolly, a young Australian batsman, led the run chase with an undefeated 72 off 44 balls.
