In T20 cricket half-centuries are gold and when scored at a brisk pace even better. With the IPL 2026 starting in few days time, batters will be all set to entertain the fans with the big towering sixes.
Indian Premier League has witnessed some exciting fifties over the years but currently it is Yashasvi Jaiswal who holds the record for the fastest fifty in IPL.
In IPL 2023, Jaisswal recorded the fastest fifty in the IPL off just 13 balls. Chasing 150 set by Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, Jaiswal gave Rajasthan Royals a flying start and took them to victory in just 13.1 overs, by scoring an unbeaten 98 off 47 balls, which included 12 fours and five sixes.
Before Jaiswal, KL Rahul and Pat Cummins jointly held the record for fastest fifty in the IPL, off just 14 balls. Rahul’s blazing knock came playing for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the 2018 edition of the IPL. Cummins stunned Mumbai Indians by his 14-ball blitz playing for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Romario Shepherd is a recent addition after Rahul and Cummins to notch up a fifty off 14 balls, which he slammed playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025.
Travis Head and Jake Fraser-McGurk are the only batters to appear in the top-10 the fastest fifty list. Five batters including Yusuf Pathan have scored fifties in 15 deliveries, while another five including Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma scored half-centuries off 16 balls.
Outside the IPL, Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee owns the record for the fastest fifty in T20 cricket, smashing a half-century in just nine balls against Mongolia during the Asian Games 2023. That brilliant knock also stands as the quickest fifty in T20Is.
Before Airee’s record-breaking feat, Yuvraj Singh held the milestone for nearly 16 years with his memorable 12-ball fifty against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup.
Yuvraj’s innings is best remembered for the six sixes in an over off Stuart Broad, which is still the fastest fifty ever scored in T20 World Cup history.
