CSK’s Rs 14.2 Cr bet Prashant Veer opens up on MS Dhoni advice

There was an intense bidding between Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Riders for Prashant Veer. But it was CSK who won the bidding war and bought the allrounder for Rs 14.2 crore at the IPL 2026 players’ auction.

During an event in Chennai, Prashant revealed that CSK stalwart and former India captain MS Dhoni gave him a great piece of advice during their first meeting. “Right now, we haven’t spoken much about cricket. He told me to save my money and not spend it unnecessarily,” Prashant told Sportstar.

Sanju Samson, who was the star batter in India’s T20 World Cup winning campaign, said on Monday that he is looking forward to his linking up with CSK and meeting Dhoni. Samson was bought by Chennai in the last IPL auction.

Samson had spent most of his time at Rajasthan Royals and in this edition he will face his former franchise in CSK colours in Guwahati on March 30.

“I have spoken to Mahi bhai (Dhoni) over the phone and interacted with him, but playing with him as part of a team will be great. I see it as an opportunity to learn from him,” Samson was quoted as saying.

This would be the first time when Samson would be playing against Rajasthan Royals, but he promised to play his “best cricket”.

“(I am) looking forward to playing for CSK, I feel grateful for the love and attention I have been getting from fans,” he said.

“This is the first time I will play against Rajasthan Royals, but I don’t let emotions rule me on the field. I left Rajasthan Royals because I felt my time in the team was over. Even if we come up against them now, I will play my best cricket,” Samson added.
