T20 World Cup celebrations land Hardik Pandya in trouble, advocate seeks FIR over Tricolour ‘insult’

A lawyer has filed a complaint with Pune Police, requesting the filing of a formal charge against cricket player Hardik Pandya for allegedly insulting the national flag at an Ahmedabad stadium during the T20 World Cup triumph celebrations.

Without providing further details, a Shivaji Nagar police station inspector stated on Wednesday that counsel Wajid Khan filed the complaint application.

In his application, Khan said that while celebrating India’s victory over New Zealand on Sunday, Pandya wrapped the tri-color over his torso and engaged in lewd behavior on the ground.

“The act constitutes an offence under the relevant law, and legal action should be taken. It is the duty of every citizen to respect the dignity of the national flag,” the complaint application stated.
