BCCI invites applications to fill selection committee roles

The BCCI on Friday invited applications to fill four spots on the women’s panel and two spots on the five-member senior men’s national selection committee.

The requirements for eligibility were the same as in prior years. Candidates must have participated in at least 30 first-class games or seven Test matches.

Candidates who have played in 20 first-class matches or at least 10 One Day Internationals (ODIs) will also be taken into consideration.

“The contracts of selectors are renewed annually. We have not yet identified which selectors will be replaced, but that process will be undertaken soon,” a BCCI official told PTI.

The current men’s selection committee, which includes SS Das, Subroto Banerjee, Ajay Ratra, and S Sharath, is led by former India pacer Ajit Agarkar and recently selected the teams for the Asia Cup next month.

In order to select age-group teams (up to Under-22) for camps, tours, and competitions, the Board also sought applications for a member of the men’s junior cricket selection committee. This position is probably that of chief selector.

Applications are now being accepted for four spots on the women’s national selection committee by the BCCI. Neetu David (Chairperson), Renu Margrate, Arati Vaidya, Kalpana Venkatachar, and Shyama Dey Shaw make up the present panel.

The panel convened on Tuesday to choose the team for the ODI World Cup, which will begin at home next month.

September 10 is the deadline for submitting all applications.
