T20 World Cup: Pakistan knockout scenario prompts ticket refund plan in Kolkata, Ahmedabad

The ICC promised to reimburse supporters if matches were canceled in Kolkata and Ahmedabad because of Pakistan’s qualification. Tickets for the T20 World Cup semi-finals and final went on sale on Tuesday.

The first semi-final will take place in Kolkata, and the final is set to take place in Ahmedabad on March 8, 2026.

If Sri Lanka qualifies and faces any other team besides India in the semifinals, there would also be a refund. In that case, Colombo would host its knockout match. At 7 p.m. IST, the tickets went on sale.

Tickets for the first semi-final on March 4, the second semi-final on March 5, and the final on March 8 will be available to fans.

While the second semi-final would be hosted in the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the first semi-final will still have a floating venue system, with the match to be played at either the Eden Gardens in Kolkata or the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Pakistan will play their semi-final in Colombo on March 4 if they advance to the round of four. Sri Lanka will play their semifinals in Colombo if the islanders qualifies and plays a team other than India but Pakistan does not advance to the knockout stages.

The semi-final will take place in Kolkata on the same day if neither of those conditions holds true, or if India is drawn against Sri Lanka. Unless Pakistan advances to the summit match, the final will take place in Ahmedabad, otherwise the final will be held in Colombo.

The ticket holder will receive a refund if they bought tickets for a venue that does not host the first semi-final or the final.
