
Rain could play a spoilsport to the much-awaited India vs Pakistan match at the T20 World Cup 2026 in Colombo. The forecast suggests heavy rainfall near the R Premadasa Stadium area, close to the scheduled start time of the game at 7 pm.
According to the Sri Lanka Department of Meteorology, there is 70 percent chance of rain with a low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal. Weather report also added that between 6 pm and 7 pm, heavy rain is expected. Moreover, light rain could continue between 7 pm and 10 pm, leading to delays, stortened game or a complete washout.
With the rain forecast being in place, fans should come prepared for rain interruptions, and hope for conditions to improve during the match time. Forecast says 50 to 60 percent chance of rain between 1 pm and 7 pm.
On Saturday evening, there was light rain around 6 pm after India had completed their training session. Both India and Pakistan have four points each from two matches and if the match is completely washed out, both teams will share one point each and progress to the Super Eight stage.
The good news is that there is a provision of 60 minutes of extra time to complete the match. Moreover, Premadasa Stadium has an excellent drainage system and covers spanning the entire ground. After a heavy shower, the ground is equipped to become match ready in 45 to 60 minutes.
