Neeraj Chopra books spot in 2025 Diamond League final in Zurich

Star Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has earned a spot in the Diamond League 2025 Final, which will take place on August 27 and 28 in Zurich, Switzerland.

The current world champion, Chopra, did not participate in the August 16 Diamond League Meeting in Silesia, Poland. It is also unknown if he will play in the August 22 leg in Brussels.

It doesn’t matter, though, because according to the most recent rankings that were made public following the Silesia leg on Saturday, the Indian star has already secured his spot in the DL Final.

The two-time Olympic medallist has already guaranteed his spot in the winner-take-all final with 15 points from two DL matches, one title, and one second-place result.

Chopra is ranked third in the standings, behind Julian Weber (15) and Keshorn Walcott (17).

The top six finishers from the Brussels leg will advance to the Zurich DL Finals.

Chopra last competed at the NC Classic in Bengaluru on July 5, where he clinched the title with a throw of 86.18m at the event he hosted himself.

With a throw of 90.23 meters, the 27-year-old defending world champion exceeded the desired 90-meter mark at the May Doha DL, but Weber won first place. Chopra then went on to win the Paris DL championship in June with a throw of 88.16 meters.

Chopra will defend his title at the World Championships, which will take place in Tokyo from September 13–21.
