Dashing batsman Tilak Verma was on Monday included in the India A side for the T20 World Cup warm-up matches, while tearaway pacer Mayank Yadav also made his comeback after a protracted injury absence.
After making a full recovery from a groin injury, Tilak was cleared by the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) and will play in one of the two warm-up matches before returning to the senior national team.
After missing the most recent Twenty20 series against New Zealand, when Shreyas Iyer was utilized in his place, the left-handed batter will return to the national team.
“Tilak Varma will feature in one warm-up match before joining the senior team,” the BCCI said in a post on X while naming the squad.
On Monday, India A will play the USA at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, and on Friday, they will play Namibia at the CoE in Bengaluru.
Ayush Badoni will head the 15-member India A squad, which also features Naman Dhir, Vipraj Nigam and Riyan Parag.
Mayank, on the other hand, has been out for more than a year because of a stress fracture.
On February 7, the opening day of the T20 World Cup, defending champions India will play the USA to start their campaign.
