Prior to their pivotal Super Six match against Pakistan, the India U-19 team, now participating in the U-19 World Cup, had a virtual conversation with batting legend Sachin Tendulkar.
With only one team expected to move on to the knockout round from Super Six Group B, Sunday’s match between India and Pakistan has taken on greater significance after England secured their semifinal position with a victory over New Zealand on Friday.
“In what was an invaluable experience, the next generation got insights and perspectives on the important ingredients for success and longevity in an ever evolving sport,” BCCI said in a post on ‘X’ along with pictures of the virtual meet.
The conversation was “not just limited to technical skills and remaining fit but also the importance of staying focused, disciplined, humble and rooted in success,” it stated.
From 1992 to 2011, Tendulkar participated in the most ICC Cricket World Cups, setting an all-time record for the most runs scored in 45 games with 2,278.
He finished his career by winning the 2011 World Cup, making him the only player to participate in six World Cup competitions.
