Prithvi Shaw set for Maharashtra debut in Buchi Babu Tournament

Indian batters Prithvi Shaw and Ruturaj Gaikwad were included in Maharashtra’s 17-man team on Thursday for the All India Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament, which will take place in Chennai from August 18 to September 9.

The Maharashtra team’s captain is Ankit Bawane.

Shaw, a top-order batsman who moved to Maharashtra from Mumbai prior to the season, will be playing in his debut assignment. After a turbulent season with Mumbai, where he was purportedly fired by the domestic powerhouses due to his lack of discipline and fitness, the 25-year-old will be keen to start again.

Gaikwad will also be eager to leave his imprint after playing in the India A and India warm-up matches prior to the national team’s Test series in England.

However, it is anticipated that Gaikwad and wicketkeeper Saurabh Nawale may depart after just one match because they must join the West Zone team in Bengaluru for the Duleep Trophy.

West Zone will play their first match on September 4 after being granted straight access into the semi-finals.
