For the three-match home series against New Zealand, senior India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj returned to the ODI squad on Saturday. Shreyas Iyer was added, pending fitness clearance.
Siraj is back in the ODI setup after being left out of the home series against South Africa.
Iyer must prove his match fitness in the Vijay Hazare Trophy this month in order to receive fitness clearance from the Centre of Excellence (COE). Iyer was admitted to the hospital during the ODI series in Australia in November due to a spleen laceration.
The selectors did not include star all-rounder Hardik Pandya in the team for the series starting on January 11 in Vadodara because the COE did not give him permission to bowl 10 overs in a match.
On January 14 and 18, respectively, the other two games will take place in Rajkot and Indore.
Despite striking a superb hundred during the South Africa series, Ruturaj Gaikwad was ignored by the selectors.
