What’s next after India-South Africa series? India’s future tour programs, cricket schedule till 2027

Shubman Gill’s debut series as Test captain ended on a high as India edged England by 6 runs in the Oval Test of the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, drawing the five-match series 2-2.

India then went on to win the Asia Cup in Dubai finishing the tournament undefeated under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav. India defeated archrivals Pakistan thrice in the tournament including the final on September 28. That they are still yet to get their hands on the trophy is another matter.

In early October, India hosted West Indies for two-Test series and won the first Test by an innings and 140 runs in Ahmedabad and defeated the Windies in the second Test by 7 wickets in Delhi, to win the series 2-0.

India then toured Australia in the second half of October for a three-ODI and five-T20I series. The ODIs marked the return of stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to the Indian team. Having quit Tests and T20Is, both the former captains were playing for India for the first time since the Champions Trophy triumph in March.

After ducks in the first two ODIs of the series, Kohli scored an undefeated 74 in the third match. Rohit was adjudged the Player of the Series after smashing 73 and an unbeaten 121 in the second and third ODIs in Australia, though India lost the ODI series 1-2, under the captaincy of Gill.

India won the T20I series 2-1 under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, with two of the five games washed out.

The last T20I of the series was on November 8 in Brisbane and the first Test against South Africa began in Kolkata on November 14. India lost the first Test by 30 runs after failing to chase 124 on a crumbling pitch.

The second and final Test of the series is scheduled to begin in Guwahati on November 22, Saturday. India is scheduled to play a three-ODI series against South Africa starting November 30 and a five-T20I series starting on December 9 and ending on December 19.
