Vaibhav Suryavanshi explodes with India’s second fastest T20 hundred in Asia Cup Rising Stars

In the Asia Cup Rising Stars competition in Doha on Friday, young phenom Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored the second-fastest century by an Indian batter in Twenty20 cricket, off 32 balls, for India A against United Arab Emirates.

Smashing 15 sixes and 11 fours to make 144 off 42 balls, the 14-year-old opening batsman tied the record set by India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who made a century off 32 balls for Delhi against Himachal Pradesh in 2018.

India A scored a massive 297/4 in 20 overs thanks to his blitz, with captain Jitesh Sharma scoring a 32-ball 83 (8x4s, 6x6s).

Indian opener and world No. 1 T20I batter Abhishek Sharma and Gujarat’s Urvil Patel, who both made 28-ball tons in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy in 2024–2025, share the record for the fastest century by an Indian batter in Twenty20 cricket.

After making his IPL debut the previous season, Suryavanshi already has the second-fastest century in the competition from 35 balls after scoring 101 off 38 deliveries for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans.

Suryavanshi’s record ton propelled India A to a thumping 148-run win over United Arab Emirates.

India’s bowling effort was led by left-arm pacer Gurjapneet Singh (3/18), while the UAE were never in contention and finished at 149/7.

Shoaib Khan, a middle-order batsman from the United Arab Emirates, provided some resistance with a 41-ball 63.

The UAE batters were never in contention to chase 298, and their true goal was to minimize the margin of defeat.

Even so, it was difficult to defeat a strong Indian offensive made up of elite regulars.
