
Before the first Test of the two-match series, four players of India’s Test team, including captain Shubman Gill, will come in Kolkata on Sunday night with the entire South African contingent.
“Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel will fly directly to Kolkata from Brisbane. They are expected to check in by evening,” a PTI report quoted a local team manager as saying.
“The South Africa entire squad will also check in on Sunday.”
Training is set to start on Tuesday, while the remaining Indian Test players are anticipated to arrive in batches on Monday.
Suryakumar Yadav’s team won the Twenty20 International series against Australia 2-1 after the fifth and final match was cancelled at Brisbane’s Gabba due to a storm on Saturday.
India’s openers, Shubman Gill (29 not out) and Abhishek Sharma (23 not out), enjoyed a quick 52-run partnership in just under five overs before bad weather stopped play.
Eden Gardens will host the first Test match against South Africa on November 14. The second match will take place in Guwahati from November 22.
India started the current World Test Championship cycle with a 2-2 draw in England and a clean sweep of the West Indies at home.
