Australia recall Marnus Labuschagne as Cameron Green misses India ODI series

All-rounder Cameron Green, who is injured, was replaced by Marnus Labuschagne on Friday for the three-match ODI series that starts in Perth on Sunday.

Due to side soreness, Green will miss the series, as the Aussie selectors are not prepared to take a chance before the Ashes next month.

“Green will complete a short period of rehabilitation and is tracking to return to play in round three of the Sheffield Shield to continue his preparation for the Ashes,” in a statement, Cricket Australia said that Green’s absence from the ODIs is a preventative measure.

Labuschagne was not included in the original squad, but he was recruited after hitting his fourth hundred of the domestic season on Thursday, a 159, in a Sheffield Shield match for Queensland.

Josh Phillippe will replace injured Josh Inglis, while Matthew Kuhnemann will take Adam Zampa’s place, who will miss the match for personal reasons. This is the third forced change Australia has had to make ahead of the opening ODI against India.

From India’s perspective, the series centers on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who have been one format players since their Test retirement and are making their first appearances on national team duty since March.
