During the Indian team’s first training session before the ODI series against Australia starts in Perth on Sunday, senior stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma immediately made an impression and spent a lot of time in the nets.
The focus is on Rohit and Kohli, who are only available in the 50-over format and last represented India in the Champions Trophy in February and March.
In the nets, the two former captains of India batted for over thirty minutes. The Indian team reached Perth in two groups on Wednesday and Thursday for the three-ODI and five-T20 white-ball tour that gets underway on October 19.
Following his time in the nets, Rohit was also spotted talking extensively with head coach Gautam Gambhir.
The Indian cricket board (BCCI) shared a video of the two stalwarts’ training hard on its official X handle:
In addition to ending their India T20 careers following their T20 World Cup title victory in Barbados last year, Kohli and Rohit both announced their retirements from Test cricket earlier this year.
Both of the great ODI players may be playing their final games in Australia.
It is also uncertain if they will play in the 2027 World Cup because a lot would rely on their form at that time and level of fitness. Shubman Gill, the new captain, has supported the two superstars, nonetheless, because of their extensive experience.
Kohli was spotted chatting with bowling coach Morne Morkel after the net session, and then he had a lighthearted moment with pacer Arshdeep Singh.
On Friday and Saturday also, the team have training sessions scheduled.
