Shubman Gill reveals the one Rohit Sharma trait he wants to imbibe as Team India ODI captain

When he assumes leadership of the format, beginning with the tour of Australia later this month, India’s recently appointed ODI captain Shubman Gill stated on Thursday that he would want to emulate the “calmness” that his predecessor Rohit Sharma brought to the dressing room.

During a three-match series in Australia from October 19 to 25, 25-year-old Gill, who currently captains the Indian Test side, will take the ODI captaincy for the first time.

“The calmness of Rohit bhai and the friendships that he created among the group, I want to imbibe that,” Gill responded when asked about his enhanced position prior to Friday’s second Test match against the West Indies, which begins in New Delhi.

Gill also aimed to quell rumors over the future of star batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit, who are now only available in the ODI format after retiring from Test and T20 Internationals.

“The two have won so many games for India. Very few have so much skill and experience. We need them,” Gill asserted.
