A senior BCCI official told PTI on Tuesday that Apollo Tyres has been confirmed as the Indian cricket team’s new jersey sponsor after online gaming platform Dream11 left.
After the government enacted new legislation banning real money gaming platforms, including Dream 11, the BCCI was left without a jersey sponsor for the squad.
Without a title sponsor, the team is presently competing in the Asia Cup in Dubai.
“The deal has been signed with Apollo Tyres. We will announce it soon,” said a senior BCCI official.
According to trustworthy sources, the three-year arrangement is worth Rs 579 crore, which is more than the Rs 358 crore deal with Dream 11 for the same time frame. The agreement with the tyre major includes 21 ICC games in addition to 121 bilateral games.
Dream 11 shut down its real money games due to the ‘Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025’, which states that “no person shall offer any, aid, abet, induce, indulge, engage in offering online money gaming services nor shall involve in any advertisement which directly or indirectly promotes any person to play any online money game”.
Earlier this month, the BCCI announced that there will be no jersey sponsor for the current Asia Cup when it sent out the invitation for Expressions of Interest for the team’s lead sponsor rights.
The Board had prohibited businesses involved in cryptocurrency, alcohol, tobacco, and real money gaming from participating.
With its headquarters located in Gurugram, Apollo Tyres is an international corporation. The tyre manufacturer has production facilities in India and also in Europe.
