Mohammed Siraj named ICC Player of the Month for August

After his valiant performance in the fifth and final Test match against England, India’s Mohammed Siraj was named the ICC Player of the Month for August on Monday, September 15, 2025.

Alongside Siraj, Orla Prendergast of Ireland was also selected player of the month.

India won the Oval Test match by six runs thanks to Siraj’s incredible game-winning performance on the last day of the Test series against England.

The Indian team drew the series 2-2 as Siraj took three wickets on the thrilling last morning of the fifth match, grabbing nine wickets overall.

“It is a special honour to be named ICC Player of the Month. The Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy was a memorable series, and it was one of the most intense contests I have been part of.

“I am proud that I could contribute with some important spells, especially in the decisive moments. Bowling against a top batting line-up in their home conditions was challenging, but it also brought out the best in me,” said Siraj.

Prendergast, an all-rounder for Ireland, took home the prize ahead of Iris Zwilling of the Netherlands and Muneeba Ali, a wicketkeeper-batter for Pakistan.

In a home Twenty20 International series, Prendergast helped the team defeat Pakistan 2-1 and was named Player of the Series. In that series, she amassed 144 runs and claimed four wickets. She continued to play well in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, amassing 244 runs and taking seven wickets in August.
