As tension builds over the Indian batting sensation’s T20I debut in the series opener on Wednesday, England has prepared their strategy for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
It’s unclear if 15-year-old Sooryavanshi will get to play in his first Twenty20 International. India, the three-time world champions, will play England in a five-match series that begins on Wednesday.
After Ben Stokes retired, Brook, who is being considered to take over as Test captain, stated that England had figured out their strategy for the left-handed opening batsman.
“We’ve got our tactics and hopefully they work,” PTI quoted Brook as saying on the eve of the opening match when asked about the possibility of facing Sooryavanshi.
“There’s been a lot of digging behind the scenes to see what we can do to try and stop them from playing their best cricket,” he added.
Sooryavanshi ended as the best scorer in this year’s IPL with a jaw-dropping strike rate of over 230. With 776 runs, he was named both the season’s Most Valuable Player and Emerging Player.
He will surpass the record set by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who made his debut at the age of 16, if he makes his debut on this tour.
