Manav Suthar, a gifted all-rounder from Rajasthan, officially made his eagerly awaited Test debut for India in the one-off Test against Afghanistan.
Suthar, a 23-year-old all-rounder from Rajasthan, was selected ahead of Harsh Dubey to make his Test debut for India in Mullanpur.
He became the 319th player to represent India in Test cricket after receiving his first Test cap from Kuldeep Yadav prior to taking the field for his first international appearance. India selected a strong XI for the one-off Test, with Sai Sudharsan also included at No. 3.
Suthar’s steady performances in domestic cricket have helped him establish a solid reputation. The left-arm spinner has claimed 129 wickets at an economy rate of 2.94 in just 29 games since making his first-class debut for Rajasthan in 2022.
His most recent first-class performance demonstrated his versatility. In January, Suthar struck an incredible 120 and claimed seven wickets against Himachal Pradesh. With 945 first-class runs at an average of 25.54, including one century and six fifties, he has also made a contribution with the bat. He has taken 25 wickets in 28 Twenty20 matches and 34 wickets in 25 List A matches in white-ball cricket.
The young cricketer played four games and claimed two wickets for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL this season.
