India vs Pakistan: Suryakumar Yadav highlights aggression as key to Asia Cup contest

India captain Suryakumar Yadav stated on Tuesday that his team will not control their aggression in Sunday’s intense Asia Cup match against Pakistan.

On Wednesday, India will play their first Group A encounter in the T20 tournament against the United Arab Emirates. On Sunday, they will play their bitter rivals, Pakistan.

“Aggression (is) always there on field and you can’t do without aggression if you want to win,” Suryakumar responded in the tournament-eve captains’ press conference in Dubai when asked if the players would be less aggressive in the big match.

Salman Ali Agha, the captain of Pakistan, responded to the same query by saying, “If someone wants to be aggressive that is his call. From my side I don’t give anyone any instructions.”

Suryakumar said the team feels well-prepared after extensive practice sessions.

“We have got few practice sessions. Feels good. It’s will be a good challenge playing best teams from Asia Cup,” he said.

Suryakumar did not want to undervalue the UAE, even if the home team, led by Indian coach Lalchand Rajput, will be the underdogs.

“They are playing exciting brand of cricket and came close in some of the games in a (recent) tri-series. Hope they cross the line in the Asia Cup,” he said.

Suryakumar gave a negative response when asked if India would try to try something new in the first game.

“When you play a format you need to know how good is your preparation. Why mend something that isn’t broken? If something has given us results why would we need to change that aspect separately,” he said.
