PKL: Patna Pirates off the mark with impressive victory over Puneri Paltan

The Patna Pirates defeated table-toppers Puneri Paltan 48-37 to eventually earn their first points of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 at the Vishwanadh Sports Club in Vizag on Monday. The youthful raider scored 21 points to give his side their first victory after three defeats, making it Ayan Lohchab’s night.

Under the leadership of their star raider, the Patna Pirates got the night off to the best possible start. The proceedings began with a Super Raid that took out Aditya Shinde, Vishal Bhardwaj, and Gurdeep. Gaurav Khatri was then taken out by Ayan shortly after.

In addition to Aslam Inamdar and Abinesh Nadarajan’s failed raids, the Puneri Paltan quickly suffered the first ALL OUT. Due to this quick start, by the conclusion of the first time-out in the first half, the score was 15–4.

As the Patna Pirates maintained their dominance, the first 20 minutes’ plot stayed almost unchanged. Following a successful tackle on Pankaj Mohite, skipper Ankit entered the game. Deepak then removed Aditya Shinde, and a second ALL OUT on the Puneri Paltan was imminent.

As their dominance over their opponents persisted, Deepak attacked Gaurav of the Paltans this time, resulting in the second ALL OUT. Giving the Paltan a taste of their own medicine, Ayan finished his Super 10 with another raid on Aslam, finishing the first half with 13 points and the score at 27-10.

After Ayan scored two more points to get Aslam and Milad Mohajer, the third ALL OUT followed swiftly at the beginning of the second half. Although the Puneri Paltan had to make numerous adjustments as a result, the Season 10 champions’ fate was not greatly improved.

After capturing Abinesh Nadarajan and Vaibhav Rabade in back-to-back raids, Milan Dahiya joined the Pirates’ party. Ayan’s commanding performance took precedence over him, and Aditya Shinde’s triumphant raids served only as consolation. The 20-point advantage during the second time-out, when the score was 39-19, made this clear.

The three-time champions had built a massive lead, but one ALL OUT could have turned the tide against them. That setback came in the 8th minute when Abhishek Gunge dismissed Ankit.

When Ayan Lohchab entered the lobby for an unforced error, he finally experienced an unsuccessful raid after 20 successful ones. Milad and Sachin Tanwar joined the party for the Puneri Paltan, but it was unquestionably insufficient.

Even though the Pirates suffered a second ALL OUT in the last moments of the game, it was nevertheless a comfort. Together with scores from players like Ankit, Milan, Deepak, and Navdeep, Ayan’s one-man performance helped the Pirates defeat the Paltan by an overwhelming 11 points.
