Rajasthan Royals became the fourth team to seal the final playoff spot in IPL 2026 after they beat Mumbai Indians by 30 runs in their final league stage match. In the Eliminator match on Wednesday in Mullanpur, they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Despite a top-order collapse, RR still managed to post 205 for 8, batting first. MI looked in control of the run chase before they collapsed to be restricted to 175 for 9 at the Wankhede Stadium.
While departing from the Mumbai airport, 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shared a light-hearted moment with skipper Riyan Parag. In a video that has gone viral on social media, the paparazzi present at the airport wanted Parag to pose with Sooryavanshi for a photograph.
However, the RR captain declined the request, saying, “We aren’t film stars,” before walking away. Reacting to his captain’s remark, Sooryavanshi had a puzzled look but continued posing for pictures.
Sooryavanshi has had a massive IPL 2026 season where he has shattered multiple records and has scored 583 runs so far this season, at an impressive strike rate of 232.27.
At 15, Sooryavanshi also became the youngest batter ever to score 500 runs in a single IPL season. The record was earlier held by Rishabh Pant, who achieved the milestone for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2018.
The batting prodigy from Bihar has enjoyed a remarkable season so far, and his performances have impressed fans and experts alike. Some have even started calling for his inclusion in the senior Indian team.
Sooryavanshi was recently named in the India A squad for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka.
